How to Connect Two Wireless Routers

Wireless router has made internet browsing very easy. You can move freely along with laptop within the area of signals and browse internet easily.Let us assume a situation where in ground floor you have a broadband modem and a wire router. You are able to use wireless router within ground floor easily.
However, you have decided to extend your wireless area to first or second floor of your building. In this situation you need another wireless router to be installed on first or second floor and connected to first router which is present on ground floor. You can easily connect these two wireless routers with an Ethernet cable. Routers need not be from same manufacturers. However, it is recommended that distance between two wireless routers shouldn’t be more than 100 meter. More than that distance may raise connectivity issue.

I assume that your ground floor router is working fine and connected to internet. Only second router setup is to be done.

Note: Wire connection between second computer and router is required only once to configure router.

Instructions:

1. Take Ethernet cable. Connect one end to available port on first wireless router (it’s assumed that first router configured and working fine) and another end to second router which is assumed to be on first or second floor.

2. Configure second router. Take about a meter Ethernet cable. Connect one end to router and another end to computer. Switch on the new router and computer.

3. Open internet explorer, type http:// 192.168.1.1 to open router dashboard. It will ask router’s username and password. Leave username box empty and type “admin” as password. Click OK.

4. Locate where is the “Local IP address”. In IP address, change last number to ‘2’. It will avoid IP addresses conflict among two routers.

5. Now, disable DHCP routing service and save settings.

6. Go to the “Advanced settings” and change operating mode to ‘route’. Then save the settings again and restart router.

Now, you should able to use second router (which is on first or second floor) easily. Feel free to post comments.
