Problem with website security certificate

When a user tries to visit financial websites like banking or buying something online in Internet Explorer may get the following error message.
“There is a problem with this website's security certificate. The security certificate presented by this website was not issued by a trusted certificate authority. Security certificate problems may indicate an attempt to fool you or intercept data you send to the server. We recommend that you close this webpage and do not continue to this Web site.”

Causes:

The problem could be due to wrong date and time in your computer. Correcting your computer date and time should fix the issue. Banking and E-commerce websites purchase SSL certificate from third party like Verisign. The reason for security certificate error may be due to expired certificate.

Resolution:

1.  Correct date and time.

Double click date and time icon from system tray (Right corner of task bar). Date and time dialog box will appear. Select appropriate date and time, click Apply and Ok.

Some old computers keeps loosing date and time after you restart or turn off computer because of dead CMOS battery (old computer has a small battery present on main board to store date and time). By replacing dead CMOS battery issue can be fixed.

2.  Perform this step if first step is not applicable. In Internet explorer, go to  Tools>>Internet options.

Internet options box will appear. Click Security tab, select trusted sites option and click Sites. Another box will appear, enter your trusted website address and click Add.
