What could
be the most frustrating problem than computer freezes randomly? You might have faced this problem. Sometime
it may panic you, because you may be in the middle of some important task on
the computer and it freezes. Some of us may want to break such computer in
angry mood. Computer freezing problem could be related to defective hardware
and software.

1. Defective CPU fan:
A computer could freeze due to more heat
build-up inside micro processor. Make sure the CPU fan working properly to
exhaust heat. Once I went through a
situation where CPU fan was working but still computer freezes. I had removed
fan and find aluminum rust formed on micro processor, which was not allowing
heat sink to absorb heat. It may happen to your micro processor too. I just
wiped rust and connected fan, then computer freezing issue resolved.
2. Go through Recently Installed Programs:
In some situations, computer freezes after
installation of new program which may be interfering with your computer. If
this is the case then uninstall interfering program, which may resolve the
issue.
3. Virus
and Malware Scanning:
Make sure that your computer has updated virus and
malware protection. Scan computer with updated anti-virus program to make sure
computer is free from viruses and malware.

Corrupted windows registry:
Computer could freeze randomly because of corrupted
registry. Windows registry is the heart
of an operating system. It is not advisable to play with it. Never open
registry for editing etc. However, you can do registry scan through free
reliable program like TweakNow RegCleaner.
5. Disk
space:
Computer could freeze due to less hard disk space. Check hard drive
available space and make sure it has enough free space. You can do disk cleanup
and remove unwanted programs from computer to free hard disk space.
6. Disk
de-fragmentation:
Defragment hard disk,
it will arrange system files etc in proper order. To defragment hard disk,
click on Start button on task bar then go to all programs, accessories, system
tools and disk de-fragmenter.
Select C: drive and hit analysis button. It
will analysis disk and prompt you whether de-fragmentation is required or not.
7. Check
System Memory:
Check RAM using proper program to make sure it
is working fine.
8. System
Restore:
Still computer freezes after
trying above steps? Backup your important files and go for System Restore.
9. Final step is to do a clean Windows re-installation, if all above steps fail.
